Top Emerging players to watch out for Indian Premier League 2019

2019 Indian Premier League is certainly going to this year’s biggest cricketing event besides Cricket World Cup. The 12th edition of the league is to be played begin from 23rd March. The league has garnered a lot of eyeballs and attraction from fans around the world.

Certainly, it has provided the biggest platform for young cricketers to showcase their abilities against the best players in the world. The biggest products to emerge from the system are the likes of Jaspreet Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

2019 IPL Auction saw eight franchises show preference over young players as Shimron Hetmyer, Sam Curran and Varun Chakravarthy were bought for big money. The experienced players remained unsold and were not picked by the franchises, which was big surprise for this year’s auction held in Jaipur.

Now, let’s look at the most exciting newcomers that might make a big impact in this year’s competition.

Shimron Hetmyer

First on the list is West Indies’ middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer, who has certainly impressed everyone with his batting performances in limited-overs cricket. In 2018, he became the youngest player to smash a century in the Caribbean Premier League.

Hetmyer certainly was the standout performer for West Indies on their trip to India last year. In five matches, he scored 259 runs at an average of 51.80. Hetmyer relished playing in Indian conditions and scored heavily against India in the five-match one-day series.

Left-handed batsman was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a big prize of Rs 4.2 crore. Hetymer will certainly bring a lot to the batting lineup and learn a great deal from the likes of Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers, who will also take part in this year’s competition.

Sam Curran

The 20-year old all-rounder made an impressive start in the longer format of the game. Curran made notable contributions with bat and ball to help England beat India in the five-match Test series played last year.

Sam Curran gained prominence and attention from cricket pundits and fans due to ability to do well for the side in difficult situations. He was second biggest acquisition in this year’s Indian Premier League Auction held in Jaipur. Kings XI Punjab bought him for a whopping prize of 7.2 crore for the coming season.

Curran has a good record in the T20 format and averages 28.47 with the ball in hand. He could certainly provide value with the bat and ball for Kings XI Punjab in the coming edition of the league.

Varun Chakravarthy

The mystery leg-spinner rose to prominence due to his credible performances in Tamil Nadu Premier League. Varun Chakravarthy was instrumental in helping Siechem Madurai Panthers to lift the coveted prize.

Chakravarthy has also done well at the domestic level in the List-A cricket for Tamil Nadu. He currently has picked up 22 wickets in just 9 matches at an average of 16.68. Leg-spinner certainly has a lot of variations up his sleeve that he will be looking to unleash in this year’s tournament.

He was the most expensive acquisition in the 2019 IPL Auction event held in Jaipur. Kings XI Punjab bought him for a whopping Rs 8.4 crore for the coming season. He will certainly learn a great deal bowling in tandem with India’s premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

It will be interesting to see how these emerging players will fare in the 12th edition of Indian Premier League.
