Pakistan tour to Netherlands 2022 –[Preview]

Pakistan is scheduled to tour Netherlands in the month of August to play three-match ODI series, starting from 16th August at Hazelaarweg in Rotterdam.

The Pakistan Cricket Board have announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming tour of the Netherlands. Babar Azam will lead the side for the upcoming ODI series against Netherlands. Abdullah Shafique and Agha Salman are two uncapped players named in Pakistan’s limited-overs squad for the tour of Netherlands.

Shahnawaz Dahani, Zahid Mahmood, Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Haris are promising players picked for the three-match ODI series against Netherlands. For Pakistan, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi are prominent pacers for the forthcoming ODI series. Besides the trio, the likes of Mohammad Wasim Jr., and Shahnawaz Dahani are other pace options.

Shadab Khan, Zahid Mahmood and Mohammad Nawaz are prominent spinners for the tour of Netherlands. Agha Salman and Khushdil Shah are part-time spin options for Pakistan for this tour.

On the other hand, Netherlands have yet to announce their limited-overs squad for the home series against Pakistan. Wicket-keeper Scott Edwards will lead the side for the three-match ODI series.

In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Scott Edwards, Bas de Leede, Max O’Dowd, Vikramjit Singh and Tom Cooper to deliver the bulk of the runs.

Since 5th August 2020, Middle-order batsman Scott Edwards has topped the batting charts for Netherlands. In 18 matches played, Edwards has accumulated 621 runs at an average of 38.81 with eight half-centuries to his name.

Besides Edwards, opener Max O’Dowd has shown decent form for the Netherlands and accumulated 505 runs at an average of 36.07 with five half-centuries to his name.

It will be interesting to see whether Fred Klaassen and Paul Van Meekeren will be available or not as they currently playing for their county sides in the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup and The Hundred competition.

Since 5th August 2020, Medium-pacer Logan Van Beek has topped the bowling charts for Netherlands. In 14 ODIs played for the Netherlands, Logan Van Beek has claimed 19 wickets at an average of 32.31.

Besides Van Beek, pacer Fred Klaassen has taken 15 wickets in 10 outings at an average of 24.26.

On the other hand, Pakistan will be relying on their premier players to deliver the goods with bat and ball against Netherlands.

Since 5th August, Captain Babar Azam has shown exceptional form in the 50-over format. In 15 matches played, Babar Azam has accumulated 1,083 runs at an average of 83.30 with six centuries and four half-centuries to his name.

Besides Babar Azam, opener Imam-ul-Haq has shown excellent form for Pakistan at the top of the innings. Left-hander has accumulated 797 runs in 15 outings at an average of 56.92 with two centuries and eight half-centuries to his name.

Since 5th August, pacer Haris Rauf has topped the bowling charts for Pakistan in the limited-overs format. In 13 ODIs played, Rauf has claimed 23 wickets at an average of 28.39.

Besides Rauf, left-arm quick Shaheen Shah Afridi has claimed 22 wickets at an average of 28.77 with one five-wicket haul to his name.

All the three-matches of the one-day series will be played at Hazelaarweg in Rotterdam on 16th, 18th and 21st August respectively.
