New Zealand tour to Ireland 2022- [Preview]

New Zealand is scheduled to tour Ireland to play three ODIs and three T20Is, starting from 10th June at The Village, Dublin. Ireland have announce their ODI squad for the upcoming home series against New Zealand.

Uncapped wicket-keeper Stephen Doheny and pacer Graham Hume have earned their maiden call-ups to Ireland’s ODI squad for New Zealand series. Andrew Balbirnie will lead the side for the three-match ODI series. Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Simi Singh, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Craig Young, Andy McBrine and Joshua Little have been included in Ireland’s limited-overs squad.

Since 1st July 2021, Middle-order batsman Harry Tector is the leading run-scorer for New Zealand in the 50-over format. In nine matches played, Tector has accumulated 410 runs at an average of 58.57 with six half-centuries to his name.

Besides Harry Tector, Captain Andrew Balbirnie has shown excellent form during this period and scored 331 runs at an average of 47.28. He has scored one century and two half-centuries for Ireland.

Craig Young, Joshua Little, Mark Adair and Curtis Campher are three genuine pacers for Ireland for this three-match ODI series. George Dockrell, Gareth Delaney, Simi Singh and Andy McBrine will four spinners for Ireland for this limited-overs series.

Since 1st July 2021, off-spinner Andy McBrine is the leading wicket-taker for Ireland in this period. In nine matches played, McBrine has claimed 16 wickets at an average of 16.25. Besides McBrine, pacer Craig Young has done well and picked up 12 wickets in eight outings at an economy rate of 5.77.

On the other hand, New Zealand have announced their ODI and T20I squads for the tour of Ireland. Tom Latham will lead the side for the three-match ODI series, while Mitchell Santner will take the leadership role for the T20Is.

Uncapped wicket-keeper Dane Cleaver, Finn Allen, pacer Jacob Duffy have earned their maiden call-ups to New Zealand’s limited-overs squad for the tour of Ireland.  Promising players like Will Young, Michael Bracewell and Blair Tickner have been named in the squad for the Ireland series. Pacer Adam Milne has been named in both the ODI and T20I squads.

Since 1st July 2021, opener Will Young has surprisingly topped the batting charts for New Zealand in limited-overs cricket. In three matches played, Will Young has scored 224 runs at an average of 112.00 with two centuries to his name. Besides Young, wicket-keeper Tom Latham has accumulated 171 runs at an average of 171.00.

Lockie Ferguson, Blair Tickner, Matt Henry, Adam Milne and Jacob Duffy are prominent pace options for New Zealand. Ish Sodhi, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner are three prominent spinners for New Zealand for the limited-overs series against Ireland.

Since 1st July 2021, Michael Bracewell has claimed five wickets in three innings at an economy rate of 5.05. In two matches played for New Zealand, pacer Matt Henry has taken five wickets at an economy rate of 4.32.

New Zealand will kick-start their tour of Ireland with a three-match T20I series. All three matches will be played at The Village, Dublin on 10th, 12th and 15th July. The conclusion of the limited-overs series will see New Zealand take on Ireland in a three-match T20I series. All three T20Is will be played at Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast on 18th, 20th and 22nd July.
