Bangladesh is all set to tour West Indies for a two-match Test series, starting from 16th July at St Vivian Rchards in Antigua.
Host West Indies have announced their Test squad for the Bangladesh series. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite will be hoping that the side can continue their decent form in home conditions.
On the other hand, Bangladesh have named their 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies. Bangladesh’s new Test captain, Shakib Al Hasan will be looking to adjust to the conditions and deliver a decent fight in this two-match Test series.
Uncapped spinner Gudakesh Motie and pacer Anderson Phillips are two uncapped players included in Test squad for the home series against Bangladesh. Surprisingly, experienced all-rounder Jason Holder has been rested for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies.
For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim will not be available as he will going for Hajj Pilgrimage, while Taskin Ahmad and Shoriful Islam are ruled out of the series due to injuries.
In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shakib Al Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Liton Das to deliver the bulk of the runs.
Since June 2021, Liton Das has topped the batting charts for Bangladesh in the five-day format. In 10 Test matches played for Bangladesh, Das has accumulated 889 runs at an average of 55.56 with three centuries and five half-centuries to his name
Besides Das, Tamim Iqbal has shown decent form with the bat and scored 222 runs at an average of 37.00
In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Taijul Islam, Ebadot Hussain, Mustafizur Rahman, and to provide crucial breakthroughs.
Rejaur Rehman Raja and Khaled Ahmed are other bowling options for Bangladesh for this two-match Test series against West Indies.
On the other hand, West Indies have retained the same group of players that featured in the previous series against England.. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite will be hoping that the side can show consistency with bat and ball in this two-match Test series.
In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Kraigg Brathwaite, Nkrumah Bonner, Kyle Mayers and Jermaine Blackwood to deliver timely breakthroughs.
Since May 2021, Kraigg Brathwaite was the standout performer for West Indies in Test cricket. In nine Tests played, Brathwaite has accumulated 608 runs at an average of 43.42 with one century and four half-centuries to his name.
Besides Brathwaite, Middle-order batsman has shown decent form with the bat. He has accumulated 478 runs in 9 Tests at an average of 31.86 with one century and one half-century to his name.
John Campbell, Raymon Riefer and Devon Thomas have made their comeback to the Test squad. Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph are three premier pace options for Bangladesh series..
In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales to deliver timely breakthroughs.
